Mother Shipton’s Cave

Mother Shipton’s Cave is the UK’s oldest visitor attraction – it’s been open since 1630. The cave and the petrifying wall have a long history of witchcraft, prophecy and uncanny goings-on. It’s set in a mile-long wooded riverside park, which also includes picnic areas, adventure playgrounds and a museum.

Lightwater Valley

The Lightwater Valley theme park has everything you’d expect: huge rollercoasters, fairground rides and the UK’s first Angry Birds activity park. Take the whole family for an exhilarating blast round the park – and stop off at the falconry centre if you prefer your birds a little less angry.
